We have received alot of questions regarding the history about this website so we have setup this page that tells a little bit about TheHauntedZone.com, it's Staff and it's history. This website was first created in April of 2007 by me, SolitudeDude. When this site was first created, we started out using a free web hosting service due to highly limited funds and we did not actually have a domain name of our own at the time. This site has suffered it's fair share of hardships and problems!
A couple of months later we moved our hosting over to Microsoft's free hosting (OfficeLive) which is where the name decenttalk.com started, our first domain name. The website stayed on Microsoft Office Live for a few months up until Microsoft made a highly critical mistake which resulted in the loss of the whole entire website and all of it's content. Although some of the website was recovered within a couple of days, we all were tired of the issues with that service. We constantly had problems with the server and the response from their technical support team often took a couple of days.
Due to all of the issues, tight restrictions and lack of proper support we then moved to a different and better hosting service, which is where the domain DecentTalk.org was started. Because we had several technical issues trying to move decenttalk.com over to the new host, it was decided to just create decenttalk.org.
Everything was all well and good for a while until the company decided to raise their prices on the hosting plan we were using at the time so yet again, we had to move to another host. In October of 2007 we finally found a great hosting company which is the host we are currently using. Since I am a student for Web Design my knowledge has advanced and I have been able to build this website to what it is now.
Within the first 6 months of the website being open, it had no specific topic. It was just open to the public as a "monitored and safe" chat room for any topic. Alot of members at the time often discussed their experiences with the paranormal and being that I have had experiences with the paranormal, I decided to turn the entire website into a strictly paranormal site for people to share their stories with us without being ridiculed.
Since the site has been turned into a paranormal chat room, it has drawn alot more attention and interest. I have great chat administrators who volunteer alot of their time to help monitor the chat and keep it safe and fun. The chat is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and all three of us work hard to ensure that the chat stays fun and safe for everyone. Here we are all about having a great time and helping those who feel that they are alone with their encounters/experiences with the paranormal. Since the site is all about the paranormal only, I decided that it was time to get a better domain name that was related more to the paranormal, so this is how TheHauntedZone.com came along.
