Privacy Policy
Upon visiting this website and/or registering for or using the chat room, some types of technical information about your computer is automatically collected and saved by our server. We are committed to the privacy of all of our members which is why we specify here exactly what information we collect from you, how we use it, how it is kept & how safe your information is with us.
*Important Notice* - DecentTalk.org and all of it's services including the chat room, forum, archives and otherwise is a privately owned and funded operation. Decenttalk.org and it's services offered are in no way at all intended for financial gain as all of our services are free to use at no charge and will remain so for as long as it is in operation. We accept donations from those who choose to do so, however this is not required to use ANY part of Decenttalk.org or it's services.
Any host, staff member, administrator or otherwise authorized person representing decenttalk.org reserves the right to kick, ban, reject, suspend or in any way remove any person(s) from the chat room and/or website and any of it's services at any time they feel it is neccessary and/or at any time the user violates any specified Terms of Use, Terms of Service or any other type of rule that has been set forth by the administration of this site. We are not required to provide any type of warning, notice or alert prior to doing so.
By proceeding to registration and registering for or using any part of this website including: chat room, forum, archives or otherwise constitutes your agreement to ALL Terms of Use, Terms of Service, Rules and/or information specified in the Privacy Policy as set forth by the administration of this site.
We sincerely care about your privacy at decenttalk.org and we feel that you have the right to know every detail of YOUR information that is collected by us, how it is used and if it's being sold or sent to others!
Information Collected:
1.)Your IP Address. (your IP address is a random number that is assigned to your computer by your ISP and is used to identify your computer while it is connected to the Internet)
2.)The domain in which you accessed our chat room from. (For example: if you accessed our chat from your school, office or home network)
3.)The email address you enter during registration. (A valid email is required during registration but will never be viewed or distributed to others unless you choose to do so yourself.)
4.)Your HTTP User Agent. (Your HTTP User Agent is the same thing as your web browser. "Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc..")
5.)All messages sent in the chat through public and private messages are recorded and saved as chat logs to our server permanently. These chat logs will include:
- Your IP Address
- The date & time the message was posted
- Your username
6.)The date & time that you accessed the website and/or chat room.
7.)The pattern in which you use our website and/or it's functions/services. There will be a recorded but temporary log of which pages you visit, where you were directed to our site from & the order in which you view pages on our site.
(For example: if you were directed to our website from the Yahoo Directory, the logfile will show that you were directed from the Yahoo Directory, landed on our home page and which pages you visit thereafter. These logs are not kept permanently, but are helpful in identifying spammers or trouble makers. These logs are purged once a week.)
These logs will include the following:
- Your IP Address
- Your browser type and version
- How long you remained on each page
- The order of what pages you visit
How & Why Do You Use This Information?
This information is collected automatically by our server and is collected for reasons such as technical reasons and legal/safety reasons. For example:
If you ever needed technical support from us, we may need some of this information to help you solve your problem.

If a legal situation was to arise and the police contacted us and asked if we had logs of when you were in the chat....the saved chat logs that we collect would be used and turned over to the police.

Chat messages are recorded and logged so that if a host or moderator is not present in the room, the logs will help prove if there was a trouble maker or if a situation happened that violated the Terms of Service. This is to help us keep the chat trouble-free and enjoyable for all.
Will this information collected from me be sold or in any way transferred over to any third party?
Absolutely not! We DO care about your privacy and we will never, under any circumstances release the information that we collect from you or that you choose to provide to us, to any third party for any reason unless required by a court order.
What if I choose to provide more personal information to you, how will you treat that information?
Any voluntarily submitted information (information you willingly provided to us) will be treated as strictly confidential just the same as the information we collect. It will never be sold or in any way given to any third party unless required by subpoena or court order.
Do you send out unsolicited or junk emails/newsletters even if I do not ask for it?
We do not send out any unsolicited emails in any form at all including: newsletters, chain letters, mass emails or otherwise.
Actually we do not even have the option to sign up for any type of newsletter or anything because we do not have a need for it. You will never be signed up to any mailing list of any kind on decenttalk.org! You should never receive unsolicited emails from anyone at decenttalk.org at any time and if you receive an email from someone claiming to be us, please forward it to admin@decenttalk.org immediately and we will take immediate action!
