Chat Room Rules & Terms of Use

*Important Notice* DecentTalk.org and all of it's functions & services including: the chat room, forum, archives, etc... are privately owned & funded by it's rightful owners. Any host, staff member, administrator or otherwise authorized person representing decenttalk.org reserves the right to kick, ban, reject, suspend or in any way remove any person(s) from the chat room and/or website and any of it's services at any time they feel it is neccessary and/or at any time the user violates any specified Terms of Use, Terms of Service or any other type of rule or agreement that has been set forth by the administration of this site. We are not required to provide any type of warning, notice or alert prior to doing so.

1.) Please be respectful to eachother while using this room. No fighting, shouting (TYPING IN CAPS ALL THE TIME) or being rude.

2.) To help us keep the room "decent" for everyone, please avoid using profanity, hate speech, racial remarks/jokes, etc.... If you wish to use an impolite or offensive vocabulary, please take it elsewhere.

3.) Room participation is required at all times! Please do not enter the room if you aren't going to participate in the chat. Lurking (staying logged in without talking) in the chat is not allowed. Your user name will be automatically logged out by the chat for inactivity if you don't speak up at least once every few minutes.

4.) Please be fully aware that this chat room is accessible by the entire public! Be careful who you trust!! Sharing any type of personally identifiable information in the room is strictly forbidden for your safety! Please do not post information such as messenger screen names, email addresses, phone numbers, myspace URLs, etc...

{We take every possible action to protect the privacy of members that use this chat room. Please help us keep everyone safe by not sharing any type of personally identifiable information with anyone, no matter how much you think you trust that person!}

*NOTE* - DecentTalk.org will NOT BE HELD LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE for any result you may receive from providing personally identifiable information. We forbid you to do so while using our service, however if you do it anyway, you do it at your own risk not ours!

5.) No scrolling in the chat please! Please be sure to complete your sentences in one line! Scrolling means to type one word or letter at a time to complete a whole sentence or phrase. Scrolling takes up way too much space in the room and is also rude to everyone else!

6.) Please be polite & respectful to other chatters. No user, at any given time shall cyberbully, threaten or harass anyone at any time. Cyberbullying, harassment or threats of any kind will never be tolerated here. We encourage users to report behaviour such as this by clicking on the red "notify staff" button at the top of the chat.

7.) Decenttalk.org employs a very strict "no spam" policy! Do not register for or enter this chat room if you intend on spamming! You may not spam links, advertise, promote or otherwise spam any content at any given time!

8.) Do not register for, enter or use this chat room if you intend on soliciting, requesting, advertising, promoting and/or performing ANY type of adult-related content, services or actions! Please save the flirts, come ons or innuendos for another location......this is not a dating service either!

9.) Due to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act [C.O.P.P.A], you must be age 13 or higher in order to register for or use this chat. We will be forced to ban & remove users under the age of 13.

10.) While posting a link, please leave off the beginning "http:// www." and type it as "website.com" instead. This prevents the chat from turning it into a clickable hyperlink. Hyperlinks may contain trojans or viruses, or possibly direct you to unwanted & inappropriate content.

11.) To help us maintain space on the server & to prevent confusion, you are only allowed one nick name! Please keep the same user name that you first registered! Your user name must be appropriate and may not contain profanity or sexual/adult related words and you may NOT register a name in attempt to impersonate another user or staff!

12.)Registration is mandatory! Each individual new member to this chat room is required to register their own unique account. We do not accept "pre-registered & shared" accounts from anti-registration sites so that people can cheat & avoid registration. You are not allowed to share your username with anyone else. Friends, family, etc must register their own username.

13.) Please share your "true & paranormal" stories only! We like to keep things real here, please do not share a fake story, or a past dream you had. Although we cannot always guarantee the authenticity of a story, we do not debate stories or beliefs here. We accept ALL religions and beliefs. Users are not allowed to debate or judge anyone and/or their story, religion or beliefs here.

Also, this room is not to give/receive psychic readings. There are plenty of places available online for that, but this is not one of them. We are strictly for paranormal stories & experiences only.

14.) When someone is telling a story, we "give them the floor" meaning that only the person telling a story has the right to speak. We ask that all other users please hold chat until after the story has ended so that the person can share their story without interruptions. If you are told that a story is in progress while entering the room and asked to hold the chat, respect that or please exit the room. This rule is so that everyone can share stories without interruptions.



Upon visiting this website and/or registering for or using the chat room, some types of technical information about your computer is automatically collected and saved by our server. We are committed to the privacy of all of our members which is why we specify here exactly what information we collect from you, how we use it, how it is kept & how safe your information is with us.

Information Collected:
1.)Your IP Address. (your IP address is a random number that is assigned to your computer by your ISP and is used to identify your computer while it is connected to the Internet)
2.)The domain in which you accessed our chat room from. (For example: if you accessed our chat from your school, office or home network)
3.)The email address you enter during registration. (A valid email is required during registration but will never be viewed or distributed to others unless you choose to do so yourself.)
4.)Your HTTP User Agent. (Your HTTP User Agent is the same thing as your web browser. "Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc..")
5.)All messages sent in the chat through public and private messages are recorded and saved as chat logs to our server permanently. These chat logs will include:

• Your IP Address
• The date & time the message was posted
• Your username

6.)The date & time that you accessed the website and/or chat room.
7.)The pattern in which you use our website and/or it's functions/services. There will be a recorded but temporary log of which pages you visit, where you were directed to our site from & the order in which you view pages on our site.

(For example: if you were directed to our website from the Yahoo Directory, the logfile will show that you were directed from the Yahoo Directory, landed on our home page and which pages you visit thereafter. These logs are not kept permanently, but are helpful in identifying spammers or trouble makers. These logs are purged once a week.)

These logs will include the following:

• Your IP Address
• Your browser type and version
• How long you remained on each page
• The order of what pages you visit

How & Why Do You Use This Information?
This information is collected automatically by our server and is collected for reasons such as technical reasons and legal/safety reasons. For example:
If you ever needed technical support from us, we may need some of this information to help you solve your problem.

If a legal situation was to arise and the police contacted us and asked if we had logs of when you were in the chat....the saved chat logs that we collect would be used and turned over to the police.

Chat messages are recorded and logged so that if a host or moderator is not present in the room, the logs will help prove if there was a trouble maker or if a situation happened that violated the Terms of Service. This is to help us keep the chat trouble-free and enjoyable for all.

Will this information collected from me be sold or in any way transferred over to any third party?
Absolutely not! We DO care about your privacy and we will never, under any circumstances release the information that we collect from you or that you choose to provide to us, to any third party for any reason unless required by a court order.

What if I choose to provide more personal information to you, how will you treat that information?
Any voluntarily submitted information (information you willingly provided to us) will be treated as strictly confidential just the same as the information we collect. It will never be sold or in any way given to any third party unless required by subpoena or court order.

Do you send out unsolicited or junk emails/newsletters even if I do not ask for it?
We do not send out any unsolicited emails in any form at all including: newsletters, chain letters, mass emails or otherwise. Actually we do not even have the option to sign up for any type of newsletter or anything because we do not have a need for it. You will never be signed up to any mailing list of any kind on decenttalk.org! You should never receive unsolicited emails from anyone at decenttalk.org at any time and if you receive an email from someone claiming to be us, please forward it to admin@decenttalk.org immediately and we will take immediate action!
